STX Implements Eventus Surveillance Platform for Event Contracts Market
Eventus will provide trade surveillance technology for STX's event contracts platform as the exchange prepares for launch.
STX has deployed the Eventus Validus platform to provide trade surveillance across the regulated event contracts market it is preparing to launch. The deployment accompanies STX's ongoing application for recognition by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO). According to the company, surveillance and compliance have been integrated into the platform from the outset as it prepares for launch.
The deployment provides STX with Eventus' Validus trade surveillance platform, which is designed to monitor trading activity in real time and detect potential market abuse. Eventus also said it has worked closely with STX throughout the exchange's regulatory engagement, including supporting demonstrations of its surveillance capabilities, and continues to provide expertise as STX prepares to move its surveillance environment into production.
"At STX, we believe the long-term success of prediction markets depends on market integrity. As we prepare to launch our regulated platform, we have made significant investments in surveillance technology and compliance infrastructure from day one, rather than treating these capabilities as an afterthought. Our partnership with Eventus reflects that commitment. Eventus is a globally recognized leader in trade surveillance, trusted by exchanges, broker-dealers, futures commission merchants and other regulated financial institutions. Its technology is purpose-built to detect potential market abuse, monitor trading activity in real time and support robust regulatory oversight."
Expanding Trade Surveillance Capabilities
STX said it selected the Validus platform as part of its surveillance and compliance infrastructure for the regulated market it plans to launch. According to the company, the platform enables monitoring across a broad range of trading behaviors that may indicate market abuse or manipulation, including insider dealing, momentum ignition, price ramping, layering, spoofing, cross-product spoofing, cancel-after-fill activity, and large order and trade anomalies. Combined with investigative tools and analytics, the platform is designed to help surveillance teams identify, investigate and respond to unusual trading patterns.
STX Founder and CEO Justin Deutsch said the platform combines surveillance with investigative tools to help the company's compliance team respond to potential market abuse.
"Combined with powerful investigative tools and analytics, this allows our surveillance team to identify, investigate, and efficiently and effectively respond to unusual trading patterns. Our objective is not simply to satisfy regulatory requirements; it is to help establish a new benchmark for trust and transparency in prediction markets. We believe users should have confidence that markets are actively monitored, abusive behavior is identified and investigated, and participants compete on a level playing field."
Supporting STX's Regulatory Engagement
Eventus said it has worked alongside STX throughout the exchange's regulatory engagement, including supporting demonstrations of the platform's surveillance capabilities. The company also continues to provide expertise as STX prepares to transition its surveillance environment into production.
According to Deutsch, STX's dedicated surveillance team will monitor the system daily while continuously refining procedures and controls as its markets evolve.
Surveillance as a Platform Foundation
As STX continues its application for recognition by the CFTC under the XV Exchange and XV Clearing entities, Deutsch said surveillance will remain a foundational pillar of the platform. He added that the company is committed to working collaboratively with regulators while continuing to enhance its surveillance framework.
Eventus CEO Cameron Routh said the deployment reflects STX's decision to make surveillance part of its market infrastructure before launch.
"We're honored that STX has chosen Eventus to underpin the integrity of its new regulated market. STX joins a growing roster of prediction and information markets that treat surveillance as core infrastructure from day one, and we're proud to help ensure its users can trade on a fair, transparent and well-monitored platform."
The deployment marks the latest stage in the collaboration between Eventus and STX as the exchange continues preparations for the launch of its regulated event contracts market.
