Polymarket US has agreed to stop offering new sports-related event contracts to Michigan customers and close their remaining open positions by the end of November 25, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board.

The regulator announced the agreement on October 28, identifying the operator as QCX LLC, doing business as Polymarket US. It said a stipulation setting out the arrangement had been approved by the US District Court for the Western District of Michigan.

The announcement sets a deadline for winding down existing positions as well as halting new contracts. Its stated scope is sports-related contracts offered to Michigan customers by Polymarket US.

November 25 deadline for open sports positions

Customers can close their positions voluntarily before the deadline. Polymarket US must close any that remain open by the end of the day, Eastern time, on November 25, the board said.

In return, Michigan has agreed not to take enforcement action against the company as long as it complies with the arrangement.

The announcement does not specify how positions that customers leave open will be priced when they are closed. It also does not provide contract-level instructions or fee details.

Appeal remains pending

Polymarket US sued Michigan officials in March 2026 in an effort to block state enforcement. According to the board, the district court denied its request for a temporary restraining order that month and denied a preliminary injunction in June. An appeal remains pending before the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

The board said Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel notified Polymarket US on September 10 that the state would take legal action if it did not stop offering sports-related contracts in Michigan.

Michigan places the agreement alongside earlier restrictions involving Kalshi, Robinhood and Coinbase. The board describes those sports contracts as unlicensed gambling, reflecting the state's enforcement position.

For traders, the immediate consequence is the timetable for closing Michigan sports positions. The agreement should not be read as a shutdown of Polymarket's international platform or a nationwide ruling on prediction markets. The regulator's account concerns the US operator, Michigan customers and sports-related contracts, while the appeal continues.
