Eventus, Rothera Announce Trade Surveillance Deployment for Event Contract Exchange
Rothera has selected Eventus' Validus platform to support market surveillance, regulatory compliance and oversight of its rapidly growing event contract markets.

Rothera has implemented Eventus’ Validus trade surveillance platform to monitor trading activity across its rapidly expanding event contract markets. The announcement comes as the U.S.-regulated exchange continues to scale operations following the launch of its event contracts platform earlier this year.
Recognized by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) as both a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO), Rothera introduced its first contracts on May 21 and reported reaching 3.5 billion traded contracts by mid-July through its World Cup markets.
The deployment strengthens Rothera’s market oversight capabilities as trading activity grows, providing surveillance tools designed to support compliance with CFTC Core Principles while managing both fully collateralized and margin products. The implementation also includes Eventus’ Frank AI solution, which enables the exchange to incorporate artificial intelligence into its surveillance workflows.
“A reliable market surveillance partner is foundational to Rothera’s ability to offer customers fair and orderly markets on an Exchange that adheres to CFTC Core Principles. Eventus is a leader in multi-asset class trade surveillance, market risk and algo monitoring solutions, which makes it well suited for this high-growth stage of the event contract marketplace,” said Kevin Dan, Rothera Chief Compliance and Regulatory Officer.
Scaling Surveillance
Rothera selected Validus for its high degree of customization, which the exchange said provides the scalability and accountability needed to manage both fully collateralized and margin products. According to Dan, the platform's flexibility was central to meeting the demands of a fast-growing event contract business.
Eventus' Frank AI solution was also cited as a key part of the deployment, giving Rothera a new way to integrate AI-driven coding and algorithms into its surveillance operations.
"We needed a fully integrated system capable of ramping up to surveil trading for thousands of event contracts," said Matt Trudeau, Rothera President. "The Eventus team was easy to work with, understood our requirements and were able to meet an extremely aggressive implementation timeline to support our launch."
Eventus CEO Cameron Routh pointed to the speed of implementation and the exchange's early use of Frank AI as highlights of the partnership.
"We're proud to have met Rothera's expectations for fast time-to-market on implementation and demonstration of regulatory readiness," Routh said. "It's truly gratifying when our clients have a deep appreciation for what we do, and we've found Rothera to be a tremendous partner and collaborator. We're excited that the exchange is already seeing value from Frank AI and look forward to meeting the trade surveillance needs of the firm going forward as Rothera continues on its impressive growth trajectory."
